Artists Statement
In my own art practice, I am constantly searching for fresh voices to reveal truths of the human condition and the troubling vanity and futility of living one's life selfishly, and entirely for the moment. I see my role as artist to help define the ever-changing landscape of cultural conflict and contradiction within the human heart and those burning questions we ask. There is wisdom in mining reasons to leave this world a better place. To that end, I view teaching as another viable art form as well. My own personal artistic mentors are professors: Lynwood Kreneck, Bill Weege, Warrington Colescott, and the late Dean Meeker.

BIO
Timothy High (born 1949) received his BFA in 1973 from Texas Tech University and a MFA in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in printmaking and art history. In the fall of 1976, High initiated the serigraphy (screen) printmaking program for the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas in Austin| where he continues to serve as Associate Professor and Area Head of Printmaking. His prints can be found in the public collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, NY), The Art Institute of Chicago (IL), Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MA), Houston Museum of Art (TX), Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), and Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas in Austin.
